Weddington
Every home for sale in Weddington, whichever firm has it listed, not only Sunny’s.
Weddington is the most expensive town in this whole search area, and it got that way on purpose. It is a small incorporated town in northern Union County with almost no commercial development inside its limits and minimum lot sizes to match. There is no strip of shops, no centre to walk to and no intention of building either. What there is, is land.
That is the whole proposition, and you should decide about it before you look at a single photograph. People who move here want an acre or more, a long drive, trees on three sides and neighbours they can see only in winter. People who want to walk somewhere for coffee are unhappy inside six months. I have watched both happen.
From my office in Cornelius it is about thirty nine miles and just under an hour, down through Charlotte and out the other side. It is the second furthest town on this site from where I sit, and there is no clever route that makes it shorter.
Read off the Canopy feed on 20 September 2026: 26 homes on the market in Weddington, a median asking price of $1,785,120, and about six in ten of them new construction. The largest neighbourhood by listing count is Twin Lakes. Twenty six homes is a very small market, and that is the thing to plan around: in a town this size a single week can change what is available by a third, and waiting for the perfect listing is usually waiting for a year. If something close comes up, go and see it that week.
The county matters here the way it does everywhere on this side. Weddington is Union County, not Mecklenburg, which means a different tax rate, a different school district and a different planning department from Charlotte, and it is one of the main reasons people cross the line in the first place.
Two practical things I would tell you in the car. First, a lot of these properties are on well and septic rather than county water and sewer, and a septic permit is tied to the number of bedrooms, which is a real constraint if you plan to add one. Second, at this price point the difference between a good survey and a bad one is a boundary dispute with somebody who also has an acre and a lawyer.
I have closed one sale in Weddington. I know the market from the data and from the drive rather than from thirty transactions, and I would rather say that than pretend otherwise.
